About Me

My interest in the markets started at an early age growing up on a ranch/farm on the edge of the Nebraska Sandhills. My family ran a cow/calf operation and raised hard red winter wheat, oats, corn, alfalfa, and meadow hay - part of it on land homesteaded by my great-great grandfather in the 1880's. I always wondered if there was a way to understand where livestock and grain prices where headed.
I attended grade school in a one-room country school (which interestingly enough was a single-wide trailer with a few walls removed), and received a quality education.
My "working career" started at age 10. As soon as my legs where long enough to reach the tractor clutch and my arms where long enough to reach the hydraulic levers it was time to rake hay on the meadow. After two weeks of raking hay, my grandpa gave me a crisp $20 bill (that was in the mid-eighties when a dollar was worth a lot more than it is today)!
My interest in how things worked led me to pursue a degree in engineering. I attended the University of Nebraska and earned a degree in Agricultural Engineering and a minor in Agricultural Economics in 1998. I have worked in the engineering field ever since.
I went back to school and received a Masters in Business Administration in 2007. During my studies, I wrote "Using Median Lines As A Trading Tool - An Empirical Study - Grain Markets 1990 - 2005" for an independent study course.
I started this website in 2007. I named it, "Median Line Study", because that was what Dr. Andrews originally called it, and that is what I have been doing in my spare time since 2003 - studying the method. I realized there was very limited quality information available on the Median Line method of technical analysis. My goal was - and still is - to provide accurate, quality information to help others truly understand this fascinating method.
I am a chartist and researcher - not a trader. My research continues as I am currently developing trading strategies using Median Lines as the basis for exits and entries.
My lovely wife and I have been married since 1997, and we have four beautiful, healthy, and sometimes strong-willed children. They often wonder why Dad spends so much time drawing lines on silly looking charts.
